Drywall

Drywall, also known as gypsum board or plasterboard, is a widely used building material for creating interior walls and ceilings in residential, commercial, and industrial construction. It consists of a gypsum core sandwiched between two sheets of durable paper, offering a smooth, paintable surface that is easy to install and finish. Drywall is available in various types and thicknesses, including standard, fire-resistant (Type X), moisture-resistant (green board), mold-resistant (purple board), and soundproof varieties, each suited for specific applications. It is typically installed by fastening sheets to wood or metal studs, followed by taping and applying joint compound to create seamless surfaces. Drywall provides excellent fire resistance, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility for architectural design. Its quick installation and compatibility with a range of finishes make it a fundamental component in modern interior construction.
